The Ohio State University

The Ohio State University has one of the largest enrollment on a single campus in the United States. Centrally located in Ohio, the University is a center for education, research and cultural activities. The campus community takes advantage of the sports, art, and entertainment opportunities available on this large and diverse campus.  The Ohio State University Medical Center consists of the College of Medicine and Public Health, The Ohio State University Medical Center and Clinics, the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital and University Hospitals East.

The College of Medicine and Public Health is the fourth largest in the nation and is responsible for teaching more than 1,400 medical students and residents each year. Columbus, Ohio  

Columbus is the state capital and one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the nation.

Known nationally for its research and data processing industries such as the Battelle Institute (the largest private research institute in the nation), Chemical Abstracts Services, Online Computer Library Service and CompuServe, the city is headquarters for many companies, including Nationwide Insurance, American Electric and Power, Wendy’s International and The Limited.

Downtown Columbus has experienced phenomenal growth as witnessed by its impressive skyline and increasing retail and cultural resources.

Area Features

The "Short North" is a vibrant area between downtown and OSU with many restaurants, night spots and galleries.

A monthly "Gallery Hop" is an attraction for many young professionals.  The "Arena District"  adjacent to the "Short North" is also a developing hot spot.  The city hosts numerous outstanding cultural and entertainment activities at major venues such as the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), the Columbus Museum of Art, the Columbus Convention Center, Nationwide Arena and the Schottenstein Center on campus. Ballet Metropolitan and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra present excellent fine arts entertainment.

Columbus also features an NHL hockey team, the Columbus Blue Jackets;  MLS  defending Champion soccer team, the Columbus Crew;  and a new stadium (Huntington Park in the Arena District) for the Cleveland Indians Triple A baseball team, the Columbus Clippers. Columbus has been a recurring site for NCAA 1st and 2nd round basketball and has hosted the Frozen Four in Collegiate Hockey.
