The anterior segment service at The Ohio State University Department of Ophthalmology William H. Havener Eye Institute includes 4 fulltime faculty and a number of involved community ophthalmologists. Thomas F. Mauger, M.D. is the fellowship director. The fellowship is one to two years long and clinical and surgical care is emphasized with ample research and teaching opportunities. The fellow will have the opportunity to participate in keratoplasties (penetrating, DSAEK, and lamellar), refractive surgery, cataract surgery, lens implant exchanges, and pediatric anterior segment management. The fellow will participate in Grand Rounds and teaching conferences.
The fellow will act as an attending for resident anterior segment surgeries, traumas, and clinics. The fellow will be expected to take a rotating call schedule 1:4 weekends. The fellow will have two weeks of vacation and one week for a meeting. The fellow is encouraged to present papers at national meetings and will be givens additional time off and travel support to present at approved meetings.
