Course Description: Ophthalmologists often encounter patients who have non-ophthalmic systemic diseases. Typically the diagnosis of the systemic disease is already known to the patient or the referring physician. However, the ophthalmologist often sees a patient with a visual problem which reflects the presence of an as yet undiagnosed systemic disease. We need to keep ourselves apprised of new developments in systemic diseases in order to remain effective clinicians for our patients and to be helpful to our colleagues in other specialties.
This year’s conference focuses on systemic diseases. We offer an update for ophthalmologists on a wide variety of topics given by physicians that are experts in their specialties. The goal of these lectures is to provide practical review and new knowledge to both the general and subspecialty ophthalmologist, on diseases which we frequently encounter.
